If you want to live away from the congestion of Scottsdale, but still be close to the action, try Fountain Hills, a master planned community with its signature fountain that shoots 560 feet into the air. Fountain Hills is sheltered by mountains and land-locked by the mountains and the Fort McDowell Indian Reservation. Fountain Hills is a 15 minute drive from 101 on Shea boulevard. Residents are a short drive from Saguaro Lake and have easy access to gambling and concerts at Fort McDowell Casino.

Fountain Hills has a variety of housing options, from condos to high-end homes. About 75% of homes are custom built, and many are set on the hillsides.

Condo and townhome developments in Fountain Hills are usually smaller, and run the gamut in price range. The new Firerock Country Club has some nice communities with golf course views, like Balera at Firerock. And there are some fairly new townhome communities, like Lakeside Villas, that are situated next to the fountain.

Fountain Hills is an incorporated town, with its own parks and activities. And because of its separation from Scottsdale by mountains, it has a nice small town atmosphere that attracts both full time and winter visitors.
