Scottsdale Condo High Rise (over 3 floors)

High Rise condos are a natural response to the rising price of land, and you’ll see several new high rise condo development projects both in the Old Town area of Scottsdale, and the Kierland area in North Scottsdale. Most of these developments can be classified as luxury condominiums, with prices starting over $400,000, up to $4 million. For those of us with a smaller budget, there are a couple of older high rise condo complexes in the old town area of Scottsdale.

Scottsdale Lofts capture the best of the industrial loft style, while adding a unique design touch. Unlike the East Coast, Scottsdale has very few old warehouses that need to be retrofitted into living spaces. Instead, brand new developments designed from the start, offer great homes with all the amenities combined with spectacular views and convenient city locations. Scottsdale Lofts will have the high ceilings and wide open space but the industrial feel has been softened and enhanced with modern designs.

Scottsdale Patio Home Style

Patio homes one story units, often with a small patio included. This style is very common in older complexes, especially in South and Central Scottsdale. Many of these units have garages, but they are usually in a cluster nearby the unit. Advantages are lack of stairs and usually some nice grassy common areas just outside your door. The disadvantage is that most of these styles have older architecture with low ceilings and dated insides. But since most of these complexes are centrally located, they are just begging to be remodeled.

Scottsdale Townhome Style

Townhomes usually have several stories. The newer townhomes put the living areas on the second story (and sometimes the third), with the garage on the bottom floor. Older styles skip the garage altogether, and put living space on the first and second floors, and usually feature a small fenced in patio.

Advantages of the townhome style are the lack of neighbors above and below, and sometimes an attached garage. Disadvantages usually revolve around the stairs, making it difficult for older folk to buy this kind of unit.

Traditional Scottsdale Condo Style

Often called “apartment” style, traditional condominiums are usually 2 stories and have upper and lower level units. Lower level units have patios and upper level units have balconies. Even upscale condo communities are still being built in this format, so don’t assume you’re getting cheap if you pick this style. Some condo developments of this style will manage to sneak in a few garages, and some developments mix and match this style with the Townhome Style.
