She retired in June after 35 years as an educator; 14 years as a teacher at schools for the deaf, and 21 years as a school librarian. She is tri-lingual in English, Spanish, and American Sign Language. Melody has worked part-time with her husband, Jay Kopas, in real estate since 2010. She is also a real estate investor.
