News > 3 Ways to Update your Scottsdale Condo

Whether you're getting ready to buy a Scottsdale condo or townhome or just want a few updates, you're not alone in want to spend a little money on your place.  The Harvard Joint Center for Housing studies estimates that homeowners spend $400 billion each year on remodeling.  But perhaps you feel that a full remodel is too daunting, not necessary or too expensive.  There are still some wonderful choices to add a little "wow" to your place to increase not only your enjoyment, but the resale value of your condo.

Closet Organizers

If your condo is short on storage, the master closet is a great place to start to take back some space. Closet organizers allow you to double up on hanging space and add some shelving, which most every condo needs.  And if you spend a little extra, closet organizers from companies like California Closets can add value to your condo.  For small to medium condo closets, expect to spend about $3000-$6000, unless you want to replicate the gorgeous closet shown above.

Kitchen Backsplashes

You don't have to spend alot to add some cachet to your kitchen.  Backsplash tile comes in all sorts of textures (tin, glass and marble are popular) and can really add a focal point to your kitchen, especially for open floorplans where the kitchen is part of the living space.   And may we add that backsplashes look great in photos when it comes time to market your condo to sell!  Expect to spend about $800 - $1500.

Bathroom Lights

If you still have that light bar above the bathroom sink with the round bulbs, it's time to consider a change.  Choose a striking light fixture that not only delivers the light to the required locations, but also is something that will make an older bathroom perk right up.  There are lots of choices to fit your style, from modern to retro.  Of these three update ideas we've presented, adding new light fixtures is one of the lowest cost ideas.  Expect to spend anywhere from $150-$400 per sink.

Other  update ideas:

  1. Accent wall - paint or wallpaper one wall.  Blue is a popular color now.
  2. Framed bathroom mirrors - you can purchase a frame to put on an existing mirror or buy a new framed mirror.
  3. Pendant lights - These are a great focal point for an open kitchen.
  4. Patio wall coverups - Cover up that wall in small patios with bamboo or vines
